I've clocked up 29,766km on myTenere and while a lot of that is commuting l have done a fair bit of dirt. Single trail to flat out open dirt roads with brand new MT21's, only the top end speed beats my mates DR650. Half the price, air cooled, guys, we are not invincable.
So why would i not change, cos l need LONG distance ability. My day rides would stretch the lenght of GB. Its a compromise and l love it. |
i have one,its the best thing since sliced bread, had them all bmw gs,ktm adventure xr,klx, ttr, and my tenere is the best allround bike i have owned,it does everything i want and even better you can get loads of goodies for it.all i can say to people thinking of getting one is ,do it, you will not regret it

My Tenere Experience So Far.....
 Hello Everyone,I bought my '12-plate Tenny last July, did all my own little mods to it and added accessories, some genuine Yam,some aftermarket parts, have ridden it at least twice a week come Sunshine,Tipdown Torrent,Hail,Sleet,Mud-alot of Mud and I can say that since riding Bikes since '89,it's the best all round Bike I've ever had. Just on standard Tourance tyres,it does everything well, safely & with fun. It's cheap to run,it's easy to look after, cleaning or mechanically maintaining,....
Yamaha have aced it. Thanks Yam !
It's design genius made real & in good enough quality to withstand a multitude of environments, whether it be roasting hot, soaking wet or freezing cold. Also, mechanically it can take alot of exuberance too. Just a careful daubing of ACF50 from a brush onto a few of the fasteners and a wiping of GT85 onto a couple of surfaces now & again is all that's required to see off the seemingly incessant wet,Cow poo & mudslidey Cornish winter here. I love this Bike and I should've got one yonks ago when they first came came out. Brilliant strong grunty real-world engine, good gearing from pottering 1st gear to good top end speed 5th Gear ,she'll sit at 70mph easy peasily,I love the selection action too, anice positive slick snicky selection, lovely feel on the Clutch, lovely feel & very good outright stopping power on the Brakes, great Steering, great Comfort, great controls & switches, the Lights are great too,the ergonomics all round are superb, this has been really well thought out. If I was another manufacturer,I'd be gutted I didn't come up with this Bike. It's a Bike for all Riders and is Fun at everything. I am so glad I bought my Tenny,I don't know what I would do without it now,.....cry would be the first thing. Then look to get another as soon as possible. I like it's looks too,it looks like a Rally Raider, different, purposeful, utilitarian & tough. I really really enjoy owning one. Totally chuffed after about 3K miles on mine from last Summer to late Winter. My Tenny has been faultless & Fun  Well what are you waiting for? Go out & get a Tenere Wildebeest! Cheers - Stim  |
Are you sure you don't work for Yamaha! Just kidding. I will off course agree with all of this.

I own a 2013 Tenere. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet, as I have to do a little "reassembly" first to get it back to good health...:massage[1]:

I've had my Tenere since early 2012, love it, wouldn't swap it!!
Done a few mods and plan a few more in the near future. Big Dazza |
Been through many bikes- I can only have one right now- that's why I chose the XT660-Z.
It is the Swiss army knife of motorcycling. |
