Did the AIS fix and went up the driveway a couple of times, to short a test to confirm the improvement on popping and backfiring in the exhaust but I think it better.
It's a commuter for me so the ride tomorrow will be the proof. Marcus |

So I got too work and believe it has made quite a difference, it has reduced the kakling and booming on over run by a significant amount in frequiency and volume.
There is still some going on but I am happy with that 'character'. It must be said that the pipes are twin Two Brothers off a Yammy 1300 XJR so they are great big bloody tubes and will not do much to damp that kind of noise. What I am getting now must be latent to the tune of the bike (Standard apart from pipes and AIS, for the moment). Marcus |
Fitted a new DID chain and JT sprockets. Also took out the chain adjusters, cleaned up inside the swingarm and cleaned and greased the adjuster blocks. I stripped and repainted the adjuster plates, which were flaking and rusty. All torqued back up - just the plates to fit when the paint has dried, then adjust the chain and off we go. A nice afternoon to work outside for once!

Rode over 100miles to get a boat back home for the weekend to find the main road to the boat was closed due to a 6 car pile up. Alternative route was closed due to snow. So turned round and rode back again...... did I mention this was all in gale force and snowy weather. Defrosted both bike and myself last night then up this morning to give her a good wash down and oil the chain due to Scotland's addiction to salt on the road

Finished (sort of*) the rebuild for my US trip, and took the bike for an MOT test in the snow:
