I second daves thing about going to wales, is a great place for the bikes, plenty of we twisty roads that no one ever uses apart from the random locals. Anyway if some thing is getting on your tits just chill the beans and move on to a different post or just forget about it. I to speak crap sometimes and hate hearing it from others (try working on a construction site where everyone thinks that know it all)

I also see there is a new guy from brazill who has had his XTR changed into a SM bike with just changing over the wheels.

Well look closer at this bike and you can tell by the 2 tell tale signs i.e. the front fork longer than the X and the silver rear swingarm that this is another XTR converted to XTX

Tis indeed an R dressed as an X. Like the paint job he has. But what is gonna happen with Valley now he is on Bridgestones??? He may even have to dump his M1 and get a good old XT on the race track!!!:icon_scoot[1]:

We did not measure swingarms in mm, but visually there is no place for a wheel on 160 mm. I am glad, that "IT FITS". I'll please the friend with good news.

I am interested in your ride report, with the X & R having different lower fork legs with different trail angles due to the front axle being more forward on the R. Let us know.

Im olso interested in ride report! Is it OK? Im about to convert my R to X and Im a bit worried about front wheel being smaller 4" and Im afraid my bike will be leaned forward to much.

very good handling and the turning speed is super fast ,you will be throwing it around like a toy once you get up to speed with the faster turning

Oh thanx!!! Thats very comforting! Thanx for quick reply!
So there is no fear that I'll rub my footpegs to the ground too soon? Did you put harder oil to front forks maybe? If you did, what hardness factor oil did (or would) you use? And some people scare me with comments like: "your brake disc will be overheating etc etc". Did you notice any overheating?
Im sory for asking 100 stupid questions, but since you are the only guy who actually tryed this convertion and comments it, your are my only hope for good night sleep :)
Thanx again!

The problem is people keep putting they view across without even trying it in the first place, :occasion18: as you might have read in one of my previous posts they assume things and thats why i got fed up and made me more determined to do it ,the bike runs jus aswell if not better then the X due to the rake in the forks ,i have not done anything with the bike accept Kev font fork spacer,k&N filter and Arrow exhausts, maybe i would stiffen the frond end with progrssive springs if i was using it more with the supermoto wheels but as i do more trail riding the are fine for my weight 16.5 stone

Hi there,

I'm a newb to this site. Currently on an SV650 and looking to change (in May 09 when I've finished paying for the SV) to a sports bike and a multi-purpose bike (funnily enough JaseXT it's an 04 onwards RSVR Factory that I have my heart set on, but i've yet to test ride one and fully make my mind up!)

The sports bike would be a sunny sunday's only toy and the multi-purpose bike would be for commuting during the week, light off-roading at weekends and touring holidays(bridleways, forest trails, etc).

I had a holiday in Mexico this year where I did two weeks of touring on a Honda NX400 Falcon, including some off roading, and loved it (if your interested say so, and I'll post pics and video), so I decided to do some more stuff like that both at home and in europe (France, Spain, Portugal, would like to do a trip over to Morroco, etc.

So I've been looking for a bike that can do motorway, commuting, touring, light off-road, etc and I've settled on the XT660R, hence joining this forum.

I rode a DR400SM a few weeks ago and loved the Supermoto handling, but I do want a bike that can handle the off-road stuff also.

So thats my background and why this thread interests me!

JaseXT, how are you finding the supermoto conversion now you've had it for a while? I believe the forks are softer on the R, how does this feel when you've got the X wheels on? Have you done anything to change the forks since? Thanks.
