Rubbsh rubbish brakes on my X ?
Took my X out for the first time yesterday since buying it in Nov.
I noticed very early on in the ride that my brakes are just rubbish... i mean properly properly RUBBISH. Now i don't recall my other X's having rubbish brakes... I have got fitted the Chinese Pazzo style levers... they're shorty version.. which may play a factor. I went straight on-line last night and bought new pads for the front as a precaution... Lever is consistent, so not an 'air' thing.... Just wondering really if anyone else has noticed theirs being rubbish ? |

First time i rode my R i also got the impression of "WTF!?". Didnt really do any hard breaking until i brought the bike home. New pads, new steel braided line at front and new fluid did improve it a lot.

In my defence, i've owned 3 other XTX's.... so it's not just a case of me getting used to a new single disk system etc. |
Standard OEM rubber hoses are known for being built below par in as much as you can see the hoses expanding when pulling the brakes lever hard, I recommend you invest in some decent braided hose and you will see your breaking improve 10 folds. I assure you that is the only cure.
Go on line to HEL brakes they have made by measure lines for both front and rear hoses at the link below: http://www.helperformance.com/hel-br...2004-2010.html Good luck |
i thought the X comes with braided lines mate ?

Short levers are great with quality brakes but need as much leverage as you can get on the XT brakes and you ain't going to that with short levers, but they do look nice we've all been there at some time or other with fashion over function.
