168 for an oil change and dealer stamp

Hello, this thread is to let you all know I'm an idiot and will be doing my own servicing from now on.

Thanks.

Bit harsh on yourself perhaps?

You live and you learn.

168 ??? how can they justify it, dayum stealerships !!!!!

The amount of oil they buy I'd be surprised if they spent 10.00 on that and maybe 1.00p for the filter ?

So that's 157.00 left?

What else did they do ?

I service everything myself and always have...

Keep the receipts for oil and filter etc and staple them in your book and log the mileage also. I'd rather see that than a dealer stamp any day. Well as long as the bike wasn't held together with Gaffa tape obviously.

Goodness me. Which dealership???? And how did they justify that???

WeaveMcQuilt 29-10-13 19:31

Oil Filter - 6.24
NGK Spark Plug CR7E - 6.23
Sump Drain Bolt Crush Washer - 0.96
Yamalube Semi-synth Oil - 17.47
Sundries - 4.17
2 Hour labour - 100
VAT - 27.01

Total - 162.08

2 HOURS LABOUR??

Also... should there be more at the 20K km service than just oil and plug??

66T 29-10-13 19:54

Valve clearances?

Pleiades 29-10-13 19:59

2 hours to change oil, filter and spark plug! :rotf[1]:

Er, yes. Try these for starters...

Valve adjustment
Replace air filter
Lube steering head bearings
Lube suspension linkage
Plus a whole host of other minor checks, adjustments and items to lubricate.

Gibbo1974 29-10-13 20:18

Sundries 4.17p

So not only did you pay their ridiculous markup and their wages you also bought him lunch !!!!!!!!!!!!

I told them to leave this alone, as I have a DNA in there

This more than slightly concerns me...

Just thought I'd fill you in on the latest development...

A week and a half after my service and two things have happened

1. My steering head bearing is completely seized. My ride home last night was more than hairy, I limped it down to them today and they told me they'd fix it under warranty.

2. My rear suspension is in need of a bloody good greasing, it creaks like a church door. This is being done under warranty too.

So basically, after a service... they handed me back a death trap.
If this was America, I'd be suing them for millions.
