168 for an oil change and dealer stamp
Hello, this thread is to let you all know I'm an idiot and will be doing my own servicing from now on.
Thanks. |
Bit harsh on yourself perhaps?
You live and you learn. |
168 ??? how can they justify it, dayum stealerships !!!!!
The amount of oil they buy I'd be surprised if they spent 10.00 on that and maybe 1.00p for the filter ? So that's 157.00 left? What else did they do ? I service everything myself and always have... Keep the receipts for oil and filter etc and staple them in your book and log the mileage also. I'd rather see that than a dealer stamp any day. Well as long as the bike wasn't held together with Gaffa tape obviously. |
Goodness me. Which dealership???? And how did they justify that???
|
Oil Filter - 6.24
NGK Spark Plug CR7E - 6.23 Sump Drain Bolt Crush Washer - 0.96 Yamalube Semi-synth Oil - 17.47 Sundries - 4.17 2 Hour labour - 100 VAT - 27.01 Total - 162.08 2 HOURS LABOUR?? Also... should there be more at the 20K km service than just oil and plug?? |
Valve clearances?
|

So not only did you pay their ridiculous markup and their wages you also bought him lunch !!!!!!!!!!!! |

Just thought I'd fill you in on the latest development...
A week and a half after my service and two things have happened 1. My steering head bearing is completely seized. My ride home last night was more than hairy, I limped it down to them today and they told me they'd fix it under warranty. 2. My rear suspension is in need of a bloody good greasing, it creaks like a church door. This is being done under warranty too. So basically, after a service... they handed me back a death trap. If this was America, I'd be suing them for millions. |

Its no wonder bike shops don't do the full stripdown and grease. Spent all weekend doing a pre winter service to mine today.
44 000 miles on clock. Valves checked - exhaust slightly out, adjusted. New chain and sprockets. Greased linkage bearings. Mostly OK since I did it earlier in the year. New oil and filter. Cleaned air filter then modified for better fit. Spent quite quick lot of time trying to remove a year's worth of gunk from under the bike. Also adjusted head race bearings. Touched up some rusty spots. Fitted new front tyre. |

The pony is two years old and had done 1682km when i bought it two month ago. Now is up to ~5000km but i'll but it away for the winter. It was last serviced in the summer of 2012 so needed a authorized yearly check and oil change to keep the 5year warranty... My last rides has been old and I've done all the service myself. But in 5000km time i'll have to decide whether I'll continue to pay for the 10000km service or loose the warranty. |
