Reading through the service intervals list in the owner's manual, it is apparent that steering head bearings should be checked and rear suspension and pivot should be dismantled and greased at 12,000 miles. (checks.jpg attached)

I was informed by you that this work will now be covered under warranty, but I would like to make sure of things first.

1. That this work is covered under Yamaha's warranty at no cost to me and your own assurance that my bike will be returned in a safe state.

2. That this does not invalidate my service warranty.

3. That the work carried out to the rear suspension includes not just the linkage but the pivot too.

I'd like to make it clear to you that I don't blame anyone at YOUR DEALERSHIP. I've always had a great relationship with you there and I shall continue to buy bikes from you and continue my service schedule with you as long as you can promise an adequate resolution.

I'd also like to thank you for the loan bike in the meantime.

I'll be down on Monday to discuss this further, but I would appreciate a response to this email.

Its no wonder bike shops don't do the full stripdown and grease. Spent all weekend doing a pre winter service to mine today.
44 000 miles on clock.
Valves checked - exhaust slightly out, adjusted.
New chain and sprockets.
Greased linkage bearings. Mostly OK since I did it earlier in the year.
New oil and filter.
Cleaned air filter then modified for better fit.
Spent quite quick lot of time trying to remove a year's worth of gunk from under the bike.
Also adjusted head race bearings.
Touched up some rusty spots.
Fitted new front tyre.

I've just paid ~�150 to have the warranty booklet stamped even trough it has done less than 3500km since last check and oil change.

The pony is two years old and had done 1682km when i bought it two month ago. Now is up to ~5000km but i'll but it away for the winter.

It was last serviced in the summer of 2012 so needed a authorized yearly check and oil change to keep the 5year warranty...

My last rides has been old and I've done all the service myself. But in 5000km time i'll have to decide whether I'll continue to pay for the 10000km service or loose the warranty.

At least you lot in the Scandinavian countries get a 5 year warranty - we only get 2 years! Makes it marginally more worthwhile keeping the service book up to date.
