Speed in gears
Just wondering where the rev limiter comes in, in the various gears. Personally I've only hit the limiter in 2nd at about 49/50mph and 3rd about 72/75mph. As for top speed I've not really tried that yet but have managed just under the ton. Generally I find the excelleration good up to about 90-95mph but above that its wait&see. Still that is a lot better than I had expected.:glasses10:

On my tenere xt660z ive hit 122mph but the gps said 101mph that was with panniers top box and pillion going down hill and wind behind probably not a good idea :021:

Ask Kris007 what his top speed is on his 734cc XTX, I know when I rode it last I could roll it on from 160kph & it would pull hard, I tapped off at 180kph sitting up & it still had more to go.
:yahoo::50: test done on private road. |
Top Speed indicated
My XT660R has 48000 miles on the clock and the best I've seen is 117mph.
I know the speedo will be optomistic but looking at other bikes that have had a lot of money spent on them this is a great result. My mods are as follows NGK R0373A-9 racing spark plug MTC race cans,K+N air filter,CO set to 16,TPS set to 16 and Kev air box mod set to -7'c.Recently fitted Avon Distanzias and new rear shock.Bike very stable at this speed the shock is set on minimum setting and forks have standard springs and 12.5 weight fork oil. |

I saw 176km/h on my speedo some time ago with about 4000km on the clock, stock tyres, 30degC, no luggage but a rucksack made crouching down a bit pointless...
Considering there is a 9% speedo error on my bike, that makes it a whisker under 160km/h which is about right and what I'd expect given the prevailing conditions. |
My XTX weaves like a gooden at 100mph, no way I'm pushing it any faster.
I've lowered it 20mm too, thought this would help, it did, but only abit. Maybe it's the slightly taller screen, doubt it tho. Probably time to check steering bearings properly.. |

That is very funny John made me giggle maybe the reason that you only got 109mph was because of the drag of yer big sheepskin seat cover.:smilies0979: |
