Metzler Tourance Scary Moments..
Is it just me or does anyone else find the Tourances dont like the White lines in the road?
I am running 26/28psi front/rear and when ever I do a bit of lane splitting the bike wants to go all over the place when it hits the white lines...:angry5: Scary stuff. Marc |

But I have had slicks go out from under me on white lines... steel man hole covers are the worst.... If yer run that style of tire... Have a look at the Shenko 705 or the Fullbore M41 copy/rebrand... |

Yes, me too. I have tried tourances on my Transalp and XTR and always the same from about 50% worn. They ok up to then though.
On the Transalp I have been running Conti Escapes for about 35,000 miles now. Best tyre I have fitted to the bike so far. I think I will be giving them a go on the XTR when the time comes. Sent from my iPhone with a smile :) |
Is it just me or are those tyre pressures not very low??:smilies0943:
I use to run the XTR tyres at both 36 back and front and didnt have that much issues with white lining, only if it was wet but then never found a tyre for the XTR that didnt mind white lining in the wet. |
I also found the Tourance dodgy on my R. Not only on white lines, manhole covers but also in the cold on a damp or wet road. All the punctures i ever had were on the Tourance coming to think of it.
Never again. rob |

Tyre Pressure
Let me just clarify... I probably run it at 28/30 Front/Rear.
Any higher and the tyres are even more slippery I am just biding my time a bit before I decide what tyres to get - right now the Tourances are still 90% new so its kinda hard to justify.. Actually the dont handle too badly on dry bitumen. They corner pretty well just suck on any thing slightly bigger then a raised white line. Marc |
Scareances...
I have had some similar scary moments on the Tourances.
I find them especially bad on any damp surface. Just with the bl**dy things would hurry up & wear out so I can justify replacing them! Which brings me to my next question..... I have a second set of rims with D606s on for dirt & offroad work, so what would be a decent DS/Adventure tyre for mainly commuting to work, the odd road fang & occasional gravel road trip? Everyone has their own theory on it, from Pirelli to Conti Escape to Heidenhau. What do you guys reckon? Cheers, Boneman |
I think its tyre pressure retailed.:icon_monkey:
