Is this flaking normal?

Washed the bike today and saw that the paint on the swingarm is flaking off.
Is this normal, or something I should put in a warranty claim for?

What year is the bike, how many miles, what sort of riding have you been doing (off roading, winter riding, winter riding with little washing), do you use any WD40 or similar once the bikes washed, or any other information on the same lines??

Just helps the guys who have experience of the Tenere to know if its standard wear or something they might have dealt with before with their bike

hi, nope that's not normal. yes mine has marks where the tyre has dragged stuff through and scrapes on the lower parts. as mine is used [for darren-abused] all year round, I seldom clean, when clean apply acf50.

is there any warranty? gulgo had his swingarm replaced when paint came off.

worse case scenario clean to bare metal, roughen with 320 grade sand paper, apply self etch base coat, then black paint finish. job done

Well, looking at my Ten I'd say it's not normal. But then again my swingarm is covered in Scottoil most of the time! :D

Yep, thats true. Mine came off in big flakes, Yamaha replaced it without question, but the dealer was on-side with me.

Not normal I'd say, but it's only ally so a small brush and some decent black paint will fix it. Don't think I'd bother replacing the whole swing arm.

The bike is barely a year old, and has gone 9000 km. It's been ridden proper offroad two-three times where some mud has gathered there, but only for a few hours until I washed it off. I still think the paint should hold.
I'll check with my dealer and ask to have it mended.

True, plenty of salt here in the winter, but the bike is parked then. Only ridden when the snow and ice has gone.

Brake fluid.. Perhaps. Hopefully not, as it's only ever been serviced at the dealers, and haven't changed the fluid to my knowledge.

I'll keep you posted.
