Mine seems to run better in the summer too.
I read that one guy tested the kev mod on all settings and said that when set to 4 o'clock the fuel economy was good.

"Ideal settings" of the Kev Mod do not exist, and what is the best setting for one Tenere does not have to work on others. The only thing to find it is to try and see what happens.

What this Kev Mod does is trick the bikes computer into thinking that the air temperature is lower than it really is. Colder air carries more oxigen (more compact thus a higher mass-flow) and with more oxigen you can burn more fuel. That is exactly what the computer does: Giving more fuel to the engine, in relation to the position of the potentiometer. It is actually nothing more than a variable resistor that you put in series with the air temperature sensor on the bike.

As Kevin said himself: This mod will not replace a Power Commander, because it has only one set deviation for the entire RPM-reach. A PC uses different settings for each RPM region.
BUT: It is the next best thing after a Power Commander. It is of course all about how much better you think that Power Commander really is and if it is worth that huge difference in price... For me it isn't, the Kev Mod works perfectly fine. And it will not have any problems with a broken USB-port caused by vibrations too. (once sold a used PC which worked well on my bike, but could not be reprogrammed for another bike of the same type: USB port broken.)

Today I was in a hurry to catch a Ferry. Not just any ferry but the last of the day ... Failing would mean a 300km detour :-(

So when the F came out at 385km (240 miles) i continued at 125-130km/h (~80mph). I continued at that speed for ~40km before getting off the highway and continued at 100-120km/h.

I've previously twice done over 120km on F, but today I only got 90km (56miles)

3km before the ferry it began to run unevenly but by shaking the bike a bit from side to side i got there. Had to be there 10minutes before departure but was there 6 minutes before...

It died while getting the ticket but i had 0,6liter spare with me. So now i'm on board the ferry and has to remember to refuel very soon when getting back on the ground ...

Lessons learned - 90km is max on F for me when in a hurry ...

That is very difficult to test because riding conditions vary very much.. Most important is that it feels smooth.

I've still to fit mine but the O2 mod made a major difference. It was just plug'n'play while the temperature mod either need wires to be cut or picking a wire out of a connector.

So since i don't want to cut any wires I'll go for the second option. But i have not gotten to that yest since I've tried to source the connector for the temperature sensor. Imho the proper way to do it would be to make a small "extension" cable between the bikes harness and the temperatures sensor.

I'm still riding with stock exhaust and filter so the temperature mod is more on a nice 2 have list than necessary for me. The O2 is a most have :-)

I've been running a fuel tank without any highways and at moderate speed of ~90km/h

The result was 616km at an average of 24km/l - i'm impressed of the high range but normally i don't have the patience but 500km is easily possible for me ...

Somewhere inbetween 400 and 475 km. A few times less than that and a few times more than that.

The highest distance I rode was equal to Majlands at around 615 km. It was actually in Kyrgizstan riding around the Issikyl lake at the altitude of 17-1800 meter. Not so good road surface so had to ride rather slowly at around 50-80 Have to recalculate as the odo shows around 10 % too much after I changed sprockets to 15/48. Cant remember what time the reserve started to blink at that occation but it must have been around 480-490 km. Filled up 22,6 litres then...

Have the ABS model with 15/48 gearing, Leo Vince pipes, KNA stage 2 and both mods from Kevin (O2 and fuel). Have higher windscreen from OTR and Barkbusters Storm as well and loads of other ****.... :D

Well I had a crack at pushing the the tank range last night.

F-trip first came on at 400 odd k's ( at night about 10 degree's ) which it normally comes on around the 380 to 400k mark.

The next time I used the bike was in the middle of a sunny day F-trip went off then came on again at 430k's.

I then kept going to a total of 500k's ( F-trip on 70k's at that point ) and filled up. The fuel tank took smack on 22 litres.

By my often useless calculations that gives me a fuel economy of 22.73k's to a Litre, and a tank range of a touch over 520k's before I have to start walking.

Sorry for being slack & not giving figures in miles but I believe the 500k's is roughly 300 miles ( 100k's to 60 miles? )

The Bike has Kev Fuel Mod & O2 controller, Twin Akra's & Snorkel removed with stock oil filled foam air filter.

I also had my closest call just missing a Roo last night too. I saw the whites of his eyes and his tail was inches from the front wheel as he hopped past. Fortunately I was only doing 70kph on the edge of town. All in the name of science. :icon_thumright:

( not sure how the red down pointing thumb got in the title above ? I didn't mean for that to be there. Because I'm more than happy )

In summer (warmer weather) I do about 245 miles to reserve and stretched range yesterday to 325 miles before filling up with 22.5 (?) litres (neck is drilled so tank will take 24.
Winter it drops to 215 miles or so before f trip comes on.

Apologies
What is F Trip?

It is the mode the trip meter goes into when the level in the tank reaches (very) approximately 6 litres. The last bar of the fuel gauge will start flashing, F-Trip appears in the display and trip miles/Kms start counting up from zero. Effectively it tells you you're running on reserve supplies and record how far you've gone on that reserve.
