If you can built something like this:

http://www.tkpipes.com.au/cube/image...l_Box_Side.JPG

http://www.tkpipes.com.au/cube/image..._660_Z_006.JPG

(from the australian TK-pipes)

it's a single can muffler with a dummy can as toolbox on the rhs.

... you might have some business. Note that the TK-pipes system has no EU approval (same goes for UK approved systems...)

them tks are a good idea ... there is a few here who use soft luggage

and heat sheilds would be cool ....

so tool tube one side exhaust the other with removable sturdy and replacable shields that double up as bash guards for the system would interest me

no one seems to give any thought with this can job that the tenere and suchlike bikes get dropped a fair bit
i know of no one who produces a sensible feature like this...pleanty of fancy twin systems that knacker up taking luggage and are worth squat after one simple drop dont interest me ..
options could be pretty exhaust only ..or with heat sheilds only or ...heat sheild incorperating a luggage point and support
i could then save weight have a better breathing bike reatain my luggage ..perhaps bolt on a nice heatyshield when im not toting panniers ..
also it would be better for riders that carry pillions safer and maby more comfy

dreaming i know but i wont swop exhausts if im carrying panniers
i guess that would interfere with your main business ..but then again i would never use ally panniers off road [dont ask ...ouch ] of course theres pleanty on a budget too that may not otherwise purshase paniiers anyway

somthing as described above would be a world first ..he he

heres two good reasons the reason i wouldnt buy a unprotected exhaust ..i think there may be a few more of us out there too
thanks to tin tin for example 2 :103:

The point about the single exhaust not following the lines of the bike is quite valid. I was going to buy the MTC single can ill I looked closely and the problem seems to lie with the connector pipe. It seems to take a short cut to the silencer and looks odd . It does not follow the line of the original. The price of the MTC is good but looks like a hurried design. The tool tube issue is seriously valid . The tail looks odd and needs a tube that fits the line of the tail like a dummy silencer ?. Have a close look and you will see for yourself.

AAh sorry for getting off the subject . Yes I would like to see something on the lines of tool industructble box for under the the tail arch using up waisted space .

The original idea, a single can, is good. But you can buy one, since a year or so from off-the-road: http://www.off-the-road.de/XT-660-Z-...-Z-Tenere.html

... it's EU approved... and.... MADE IN GERMANY!!

... so hard to beat ;)

The only reason I didn't buy the Aussie's TK-Pipes solution is that it hasn't got an EU approval (and produces more dB then allowed) and that could get me into trouble (especially in some parts of Germany were they specifically target motorists on EU approved exhausts).

So ... if you could deliver a single can + storage + EU approval, you would have an unique product that would make sense to replace the standard exhaust. Better sound, better performance, more storage ... sounds good to me.

If you would succeed I would be really pissed having my LeoVince's (had to replace the original: it fell apart).

And another vote for a tidy tail on the tenere...

Have a look on the X Racing website.

You can buy a single pipe in a variety of finishes and a matching empty can to go with it. Add a couple of end caps and there you are!!

You can make a single link pipe that allows the silencer to follow the lines of the bike.
I know because I did just that.
