Only got a little ktm 400 now Jon ,did have a 690 enduro aswell ,had to sell it a month ago due to financial situations and due in for another major op ,so out of work at the moment .Not sure i will buy another Tenere to be honest ,great bike for travelling around 3rd world countries and such but cant see me doing that in the near future, and fell in love with the power and weight of the 690 ,so probably would buy another one of those .
Did look around for a cheap XT660R to use as a daily ride ,but not many about and a little over my budget

Having seen the vids nice and wide lanes you have not like up here so just looking at what protection for the bike on top of what I have already but think only stronger gear lever toura****? And headlight protection? Any advice on those?

jasext 18-03-11 22:49

Tenere engine bars metal mule. Handguards. Mm bash plate some other cosmetic bits as well but standard gear lever (made of cheese) and no headlight protection;)
What do ya think

jasext 19-03-11 00:18

Thats a lot of protection ,just had a bash plate and good quality handguards on mine ,you will be fine ,there are no deep rutts to damage the gear lever anyhow

Well its only just over a week away now, and there is room for a couple more riders.....so, last chance to come along with us, please let me know by the 27th March.

I will be calling everyone after the closing date to arrange the finer details..

And a big thanks to Jasext for leading the rideout...

jasext 27-03-11 23:09

I cant believe hardly anyone has taken Rich up on this very very good offer ,he is basically giving you guys free lodgings ,sorting nearly everything out and you are being guided around some of the best trails and views in the uk ,all free of charge .There is a local guide that charges people nearly 200 for upto 8 people to do these trails .

Could it be your all turning into Ewan and Charlie wannabes' taking over the bmuu guys

I am sure the rest of us will have fun :eusa_dance:

redbikejohn 27-03-11 23:27

Unfortunately I have to ferry brother in law (who is over from sa) down to his parents. So this one I can't make. So far all the xt660 and adventure mag runs clash with something :cry[1]:

Final List of riders:

1. jasext
2. richardsracingmad
3. tomsdad
4. biker-nut
5. pockey
6. finn

I will be in contact with all of you again this week by telephone, before the rideout, hopefully you all know where to go now for the bbq/overnight stay. I will have a marker system to help you find the location.

(Tomsdad--I need your phone number..pm sent.)

Jase..why don't you join us for the evening, and stay overnight? There's plenty of room. I'll treat you to a fine Welsh Black (or similar) steak and jacket, and beer!

The weather has generally been very dry for the time of year, (and the rivers are very low,) however if we do get a soaking on the way there, we can dry out our clothing with the two log-burners.

As a reminder, you need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow case, casual clothing and shoes, washbag/towel and a (head)torch. Plus Beer! (or whatever you drink in the evening). And don't forget the Camera!
Also- Armour for the rideout, proper boots and of course "knobbly" road legal tyres.

I will have a First Aid Kit, and tyre levers etc., just in case.

Hopefully Jase knows a good spot for lunch- which I think we should all treat him to.

I'll speak to you all soon-it's going to be fun!!:yahoo:
