Tenere at Clatterinshaws ---
 

Had a wee spin out round by Clatterinshaws Loch today. I was slightly de-tuned after last night's Guinness so stopped to take a pic or two in the sunshine.

Had to fight this wee fella first or my sausage roll was a gonner.

The Iridium Blue screen arrived yesterday after waiting four/five weeks for it but I think it was worth waiting for ---

I fitted these lower links from Metal Mule a few weeks back --- they lower the rear by 20mm and soften her too so I firmed her up by one click on the spring pre-load ---

All this let me pull the fork legs up through the yokes 26/28mm and keep the handling neutral ---

I've taken that stoopid gimp out of the seat which puts the seat height back near the original height --- even got the original seat cover lining up quite nicely ---

Oh yes my 'new' Shark lid - bought her in February and wore her for the first time today - she's quieter than the Aria's & Shoi's I've been accustomed to - light as well - I think she'll do.

Please can you measure the center to center of the rear links for us?

Lovely pictures. I think the fork legs up through the yokes 26/28mm is WAY TO MUCH though. I have the lowering links and from my riding experience with the Tenere I ended up putting the forks back to were they were to start with.

Just my opinion

hi i like the job you did on the seat, can you give more info on that? as its the sort of shape im looking for and as it keeps the original cover result!

I worked on it with a mate who normally re-upholsters armchairs and such like. We took the original cover off. I showed him what shape I wanted - we picked out the firmest lump of foam we could find in his shed and he cut it to shape with an electric carving knife. It's almost right - just a smidgeon low where it starts to kick up at the front. Trouble is you only get one go at it as pulling the staples isn't very kind to the original seat base.

He stitched an extra piece both sides ot the original cover then re-fitted it. He has got the lines spot on I think. I did over 170 miles of mixed going today - legal forestry tracks - one lane hill roads and a blast home on an 'A' road. No probs - I didn't have to think about my tender ass once. An added plus is the more relaxed knee bend makes it easier on my creaky old knees when I'm climbing up onto the pegs.

Kev, don't want to jump in but I exchanged my rear links today and I also have a brand new pair of standards at home. I have just measured the ones that I have here and can confirm that the centres are 125mm

Incidentally and this is quite remarkable, I will obviously need longer links as I'm not that tall (no sniggering at the back!) my mate had a pair of links from a Suzuki Goose and they were 8mm longer and fit perfectly and I mean perfectly, no mods at all necessary, holes exactly the same size, just links a bit longer. Measured bike with original links on and then after with the 8mm longer links and the rear has dropped about 35mm. I then dropped the forks through exactly 20mm (vernier) and I now can put the balls of my feet on the floor. Result.:yahoo:

There you go Kev - a result and I don't have to lie on the floor squinting up under my filthy bike trying to measure my new links - 125mm the man says :applause:

After my short 50 miler on Saturday I put together an intesting mix of 170 miles of gravel strewn forestry tracks - single track hill roads and fast sweeping 'A' roads on Sunday in SW Scotland.

First pic is on the side of Loch Doon near the start of the Galloway Forest Trail ---

Next one is 15 miles later at Loch Braden near the far end of the trail - I must have enjoyed it - the ruefull smile was because of my many attempts at taking a pic with the camera on auto - 10 secs delay is sometimes not enough (lol)

But not for long - had a crackin ride in the wet over the top and down the long single track into Glen Trool to visit Bruce's Stone ---

It was one of those days where I was singing all the way - even or especially in the rain ---

A great day out and my recent mods suited me just fine - the taller screen and Shark helmet mean't that for the first time on the Tenere I didn't use ear plugs - another result!
