02 sensor

Hi,
I bought a 02 sensor from Kev for my XTX 08 model, well made bit of kit and worked fine on my bike.I then bought a 02 sensor box from Powertec and found that It did the same job as Kevs but in a differant way.XTs have had this surging problem for years and now we have a choice of two.Bit like buses none then two at the same time. http://www.xt660.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

richardsracingmad 21-02-11 20:08

.....And my O2 Sensor mod is brilliant.
XTra Smooth bike.:bunny:Easy peasey.

allan64 06-03-11 11:37

Brilliant

After reading this thread and with surging still a problem with my R 09 (even with a Power Commander V fitted) I decided to buy the new mod.
The package arrived safe and sound in the post exactly 8 days later and it was very easy to fit thanks to the detailed instructions provided. After a few PM's to Kev I managed to load the map provided by Kev and I must disclose the the bike is running SWEET now!! I would say the the surging has been reduced by about 95%. I will still buy the Autotune module and I have confidence that once this is installed that my problems will be over at last.
A BIG thank you to everyone who contributed to this fantastic mod and especially to Kev for his patience in answering all my questions.
If you have the same problems with surging I would say BUY THE MOD! You won't be dissapointed.

Thats great to hear, I also bought this mod and will be getting myself a PC3 next week, so I'll keep you posted how my xt-x 08 will behave once these mods are fitted.

Paul Curtis 06-03-11 19:49

I have just been for a good blast on my X and i am now getting more MPG from the bike with this mod and fuel map than i was with my old O2 eliminator and map so very happy (15 miles more than normal until the fuel light came on from a full tank)

You will get better mileage with my new O2 mod compared to the old Dynojet one, because with the old Dynojet O2 eliminator it could not fully control the closed loop circuit & ran rich then lean all the time with a unstable A/F ratio.

With my new O2 mod your A/F ratio is completely stable & can be mapped correctly over the whole rev range, unlike the old Dynojet O2 eliminator.

Piipz 12-03-11 09:20

I still have the old type of O2 eliminator and a PC5.

Havent put it on the bike yet, the weather is becoming better so I'll be doing that now.

Haven't been to this forum for a while so this is big news for me.:038:
Have to start collecting to buy this.

Im going to dyno in a couple of weeks for a custom map so I suppose, when I buy the new eliminator, i will have to re-dyno it?

Don't waist your money going for a custom map if you dont have the New Dynojet controller or my New O2 eliminator. The old O2 eliminator does not keep the A/F ratio stable.

Piipz 13-03-11 00:49

Ok, the custom map isn't stable, this I understand. But is it better than the zero map that is on the PC when it is new?
Building a custom map doesn't cost too much here.

And another question. I already have a blanking plug, the O2 sensor is removed. What would I do with the old eliminator, when I decide to buy yours? Can it stay there or do I just remove it, too?

As my new O2 mod completely turns off the O2 sensor, the O2 sensor can be removed or left in. Throw your old O2 eliminator in the bin.

You might as well install one of the custom fuel maps in the ASK KEV section, which is close to your setup & mods until you can afford to buy a New O2 Eliminator or Controller, then do the custom map on the dyno.

A custom made fuel map should cost double the price of my O2 Eliminator.

Piipz 13-03-11 10:00

Thanks, it is exactly what I will do. I seem to have lost access to the Ask KEV section though.
Would you be so kind and share me those maps, i do not have paypals or credit cards currently, cant extend my membership for another month.
I have done it twice, though.
My bike:
XT660R 2007
Powercommander V
Snorkel removed
Pipercross air filter for XT.
OTR 2-in-1 exhaust.
I had the airbox drilled but it is covered again, since i keep letting water in my airbox sometimes offroading. Luckily only the pre-filter part has been wet.

What is the price of your mod + postage to Estonia? Sorry, if i didn't find the answer myself.

Btw, custom map in here is 80€. This includes dyno before, customising and dyno after.

Kev 13-03-11 11:15

Unfortunately you have to be a XT660.com supporter to gain access to the ASK KEV section where all the maps are stored.

My new O2 mod can be bought from here, payment only via PayPal, the O2 mod comes with custom maps.

Piipz 13-03-11 12:17

One last question - wouldnt the new eliminator box be too close to the exhaust, as im running the otr 2-in-1. It gets really hot

So, O2 mod and PCIII is now fitted. And after a test spin I can report that the hesitation and jerkiness at low speed cruising is gone, so I am very happy!

Thanks for making these great mods Kev :applause:

By the way, I didn't bother removing my kev fuel mod, I just set it to zero. I can't imagine that being a problem, right?

Great news, thanks for your feed back.

No problem leaving my fuel mod turned to the off position.

I can supply a longer out let hose from the O2 mod, so you can route the mod further under the throttle body to keep it away from the heat.

Piipz 14-03-11 12:38

Ok. I'll get paid within few weeks, i'll let you know then, when I'm about to order.

I took a pic of how close the exhaust is:
http://piipz.com/ajutine/exhaust.jpg

Kev 14-03-11 12:55

No worries when ever you are ready. As mentioned I will send a longer outlet hose so the mod will fit under the throttle body away from the exhaust.

Piipz 18-04-11 13:50

I already mentioned this mod in another thread but as some might not read it, ill post it here, too.
This new mod rocks. The AF ratio was off the charts without kev's mod, but now it is very stable. Everything feels much better now, it is like a different bike. More power, less snatchy, better throttle responce and i havent event got to creating a custom map for PC yet.
I recommend this to everyone, who are still in doubt, 100%!

Fitting it (along with adding coolant and cutting wires) took less than 10 minutes and is dead simple.

Thanks to the longer hose it is not close to my 2-in-1 exhaust, too.

Kev 20-05-11 10:27

OK guys I now have one of my fuel mods that will work with this O2 eliminator on XTX/XTR 2007 to present models. XTZ & Aprilia Pegaso O2 eliminator are still in testing in the UK & Oz.

If anyone is interested in a combined package let me know.

If you don't have a Power Commander & want a fuel mod with O2 eliminator you can have the package for Australian AUD$135.00 posted. Mod comes with 1x O2 eliminator & 1x fuel mod to suite XTX/XTR 2007 to present models with O2 sensors.

Mod will suite completely standard XT's.
Mod will suite XT's with stage 1 filters & cans.

A power commander is still the best solution with this O2 eliminator, but at least we now have another tunning option for these model XT's.

The O2 eliminator can still be bought separately for AUD$80.00 posted.

CaptMoto 20-05-11 10:43

Good work as always, Kev and for those of you not familiar with the currency exchange rates, presently Aus$135 equals to about 85.52 and Aus$80 equals to about 52.62.

Not bad when you consider postage is included!

And Kev is.... :paypal: friendly too! :D

Kev 20-05-11 12:14

Thanks for that Captain.

I have only a few O2/Fuel mods in stock, I will see if anyone is interested before I make more. I have plenty O2 mods by them selves.

:ytiller:

Kev 22-05-11 08:38

Some photo's of the new fuel & 2 mod. I have been testing the mod for the past few weeks on my completely standard XTX, it does make the bike ride so much better.

Kev 27-05-11 21:51

Is no one interested in one of the new O2 eliminators with fuel mod, it will change your ride for the better?

Not one taker.

:toot::toot:

Nic 28-05-11 00:24

Done around 5000 km with the 02mod mod now, and its been a dream to ride with, all i can say is, thanks alot Kev it really changed the bike alot.

Kev 28-05-11 08:30

Thanks for your feed back, turning off the O2 senor does make a big difference to a XT, no more surging nice & smooth.

So far 100% positive feed back. Now able to be fitted without a power commander.

:runaway:

richardsracingmad 28-05-11 08:38

done 1200 miles of surge-free riding now...:026:

Kev 28-05-11 10:47

Thanks for your feed Richard, hows the big bore motor going?

richardsracingmad 28-05-11 11:31

it's a bit of a tyre issue really, I have all the bits now including ECU which is on the bike now ...just been too busy riding it/ getting it ready for next rideout etc..! ...lol.

Will try and make time to fit it before the Humm possibly?....I have the engine and suspension to do, so I should make a day/or two free, to do it.

It should be a good'un!! I will post the dyno results as and when its done. I have the rev limiter around 8750, but not sure if it will pull that on the road in fifth (or if I want to do that on the MT21's, but still have my Tourances, so, after the Humm makes sense really to fit the engine and swap the tyres back, as the bike has a head wobble on at anything over the speed limit with the MT21)

Kev 28-05-11 12:32

Look forward to seeing the results.

Fozzer 28-05-11 14:16

You only cut 2 wires & join them to the mods, you then fit the mod to the cooling system by removing one hose & clamp, fitting that hose to the mod & the mods hose back to the bike where you removed the first hose. The mod comes with step by step photos & I am always here to help anyone with their XT's.

Kev 13-12-11 12:30

I have the very last 3 O2 eliminator mods up for sale, due to no response on these mods I have decided to move on & will no longer be making them anymore.

I would say my O2 Eliminator mod was one of my best mods I invented for these XT660's, so if you want to get rid of your surging XT660 then you need one of these O2 Eliminators, there are only 3 left.

Kev 17-12-11 03:22

Only 2 left & thats it.

feck 29-01-12 19:34

I am after one, kev check ur pm's mate :D

Kev 22-07-12 11:41

A New version O2 eliminator coming soon, called a Kev O2 Controller, it will work Simula to Dyno jets O2 optimizer. Still looking for a few testers in Brisbane to confirm results with XTX & XTR's for now.

:guitar player:

Kev 16-08-12 12:23

No one else in Brisbane interested in testing the latest O2 controller, I now remember why the O2 mods died off??????

I have only had one taker.:irony:

Stevenm1 16-08-12 12:48

Not Brisbane but Sydney :D
I'm after an O2 eliminator and fuel mod. Is this the combined version ( O2 elim and fuel mod in one? ) How is testing going so far?

The mods will be sold seperate.

I want to test the new O2 controller mod with a few different riders with different combinations of mods, it is been tested with the DNA stage 3 airbox & pipes at the moment, I am looking for standard bikes, bikes with just cans, bikes with pipes & stage 1 or & stage 2 filters. If no one in Brisbane comes forward I will have to look else where for testers. In the past when I sent fuel mods out for testing 50% of the testers never fitted the mods or tested them for me, so what I did on the last O2 Eliminator mod I sold them to the testers for my cost price & offer a 100% money back if they did not like the mod & would refund the money when the mod was posted back to me, never got any back, I might have to do this again if no local testers come forward.

This is what the new mod looks like.
