Next Mod: Leo Vince SBK GP-Style
Finally after getting the second can I went to a really nice guy who fitted them to my Tenere. He used 50mm ss for the "Y" connection pipe and also manufactured a new bracket, also ss. I love the job and the cans. They are on the loud side with baffles on and without them ... are mental. I think it has to do with the volume of the cans which is a lot smaller than the original leo ovals.

Next Mod: Unifilter foam filter
I replaced the stock paper filter with a Unifilter foam filter which I bought directly from Unifilter Australian website ( Unifilter) being cheaper than on the touratech website (pretty stupid). Because it has a prefilter (black foam part) it fits perfectly without the snorkel or any other mods (for example DNA stage 2 air intake).
I already ordered a DNA side filter which I intend to use only onroad and on light offroad (not very dusty situations). When thing will get very dusty I'll swap back to the plastic side panel. On the way is also the Kev's Stage 3 Fuel Mod which is designed to go with Stage 3 DNA side filter.

BTW I already ordered new rubber since the back is as you can all see pretty shaved so no comments there please :) The original Sirac lasted 9000 km (which is pretty good) and the front has a lot in it. I opted for knobbies as I want to get used to them a little bit before the big trip. Pirelli MT21 front with Mitas E09 on the rear.

Cheers,

Sorry to say this, but this is a very bad idea!!

That stupid OEM plastic screews are designed to broke in case of having a fall. If you put the metal ones and you suffer a fall, probably you will broke all the front part.

On the other hand I love all your other mods :occasion14:

This is a good point, and I know at least one member on here did have that happen - fortunately like you say, the plastic screws are sacrificial and there is no serious damage to either part...

That said, my own screen is held on with Dzus fasteners, and my bike hit the deck many times on the way to Dakar (and in the US with the stock screws) and it was never an issue... maybe I was just lucky?!

Why would you block the AIS?
I don't get the point of stopping the popping sound.

Does it give a better fuel=> mile ratio?

I must say you got a point there. Live and learn.... some say. But as JMo described is a matter of luck :)

If you are planning on setting the bike up using a dyno/Powercommander, then removing the AIS helps to give a more consistent reading... or something like that...

It's also a lot of clutter and pipework you don't need around the engine block x

In case you use the stock exhaust there's no point in doing that, but if you change the stock to after market one the popping become rifle shots as some described and it's pretty annoying to have a rifle shot every time you take your hand off the gas. It doesn't have anything to do with fuel consumption.
