Smile First good ride on XTX

Had my first decent ride in the cotswolds yesterday - brilliant area for riding this kind of bike and next to no traffic to get in your way; I would recommend the back lanes to anyone.

Raised a question though about the fuel consumption more namely the fuel warning light - it came on after 116 miles filled up at 130miles and it had only used 10.6 litres!!
If the tank holds 15, is that not a bit premature or is this normal for the model? I reckon there should have been another 30 miles left in the tank at this point.

Thinking about it my Fazer 600,s warning light comes on when there is still a gallon left in the tank.

Cheers Daveb

I use mine for short commutes every day, about 5 miles each way, so lots of cold starts and traffic light get-aways.
The last two times the light has come on at exactly 84.6 miles.
It flickers on and off for a few miles and is fully lit by 90 miles.

I fill up on 100 miles and get in 10litres to the bottom of the baffle plate.

Exclamation

In that case I reckon there should be 40 careful miles left once the fuel light comes on - If I am wrong I'll let you know

I think the fuel light will come on at different times due to the positioning sometimes. Its the same in some cars if your on a hill the fuel light will come on and once you hit level group it will go off.

But the XT's light is suppose to come on when you have 1 gallon left in the tank. But ive also had the light come on and filled it up and found only got 9-10litres in.

It a Yamaha, the fuel sender is a randon number generator......

my XJR sometimes shows one bar less than full - after I've just brimmed it at the filling station! The Z has a mind of it's own too, even had the gauge flashing at 90 miles (OK, so very hard miles - but the tank was still 3/4 ful)

Only the TTR is accurate, when it stops - I'm out of fuel!!!!
