RECALL throttle sensor

From MCN web:

"The second Safety Recall concerns the Throttle Position Sensor fitted to certain YZF-R1, FZ6N/S, FJR1300/A, TDM900/A, MT-01, XV1700PC & XT660R/X manufactured between 2002 and 2006. In a small number of cases, the idle speed may become intermittently unstable, causing the engine to stall.
In the same way as the XV1600 Safety Recall, owners of the affected machines, held on our database, will receive a letter very soon advising them of the steps to take to have their machines rectified. They can continue to use their motorcycles in the meantime.
On behalf of the Yamaha Factory and Yamaha Motor UK, we would like to apologise to all affected customers for this inconvenience and assure them of our best attention to rectify the problems at the earliest possible time."

Just spoken to my local dealer regarding TPS. Only a limited recall on a range of frame no.s. Apparently the o-ring between the butterfly and the tps breaks up and stops the sensor working. Yamaha are going to contact affected owners, wait for the letter!!!

If you havent sent the change of owner slip that is in the warrenty booklet back you will have to contact Yamaha uk in person to see if this recall does affect you.

Similarly to what Mick said your bike was sold under the guarantee of Yamaha UK and this recall was issued by them, for all you know Yamaha France either won't honour this recall or have one of their own for the bikes sold locally.

Gents,

Correct me if I am wrong, but our motorcycles are issued with a Yamaha Europe Service Card. The warranty is valid in all EU nation-states, and beyond in line with the general warranty conditions.

Example: I experienced a complete rear shock absorber failure in Norway this last summer with my Dutch registered motorcycle that was bought in the Netherlands. However, Yamaha Norway honored my warranty by replacing the shock absorber under warranty.

Therefore, I suspect that this is question of an internal processes. Since most of the parts for the European market come from Yamaha Europe located in Schipol-Rijk in the Netherlands, I suspect that warranty parts and warranty labor is invoiced internally within the European Yamaha organization.

Regards,

J
