Its the 'options' connector wired into the indicator circuit (I think) on a 10A fuse and is generally considered a safe place to wire a GPS to.

I've been using my Garmin for 6 months now, powered up from this socket with no problems at all...

Hi Andy12, does it shut off the power supply to the GPS when you shut off the bike? I read somewhere that the plug was supposed to be for plugging into some computer at dealership for complete diagnostic of the bike. No?

It's not the Diag connector, that was some incorrect info. The Diag connector is under the seat. Nick. |

It's on the parking light circuit, so if you turn the parking lights on it is powered.

Also having the diag connector under the cover of the front light its….. DUCATI’s engineering…not YAMAHA’s. Seriously, i have connected a car-cigarette plug on it , which is fixed on the handlebar, from where I power up my Garmin etrex GPS from day one. Been traveling with the GPS on for more than 4 hours continuously, most of the time off –road with a lot of bumps and vibration, and over 35-40 degrees C (Ahhhhhh….. summer time in Greece) and had absolutely zero problems……. |
