Cool Tank Bags

Anyone out there who has fitted a Tenere specific tank bag yet?

Would appreciate your views - so far the only one I have seen (on the net) is the 'Off The Road' bag - anyone got one of these?

Cheers!

bags

Hi, I haven't bought one yet. but touratech do a tenere specific one, and baglux do one too. My old "strap-on" won't fit, as the tank is too short, so I'll be looking to buy either of these myself in the new year.

I use a Hein Gericke tank bag and just had to cut the base slightly to fit around the filler cap. Any good?, not a bad size, expandable and fits quite nicely.
Can get better pics if you so wish!
Currently around 40 ish.

Me too, just need to cut away some of the rubber on the base - I doubled it up with a sheet of 'Oxford Mat' to give a bit more grip and less movement.

Great picy Steve - that Khaki ten on the right looks the dogs........ and that hansom chap in the green tee-shirt looks like a true hardcore rider

I've contacted SWM when I first got the bike in June. As far as what they told me, this tankbag is not 'quicklock', what your friend has as shown in the pic is the usual strap/tie-down system. Quicklock has a ring mount right on the tank cap, and the tankbag would have the male/female mount to snap into the ring on the tank cap, so the tank bag would not even touch the tank. I have two on my old BMWs, and yes they are a great system and the quality of the bag is better than stock BMWs IMHO. But the system doesn't work on Tenere because a) they don't have the ring that fits the new 5-screws system on the new Tenere, and b) position of the ignition key hole would be in the way of the tankbag. It's really a shame.

Personally, because of the short tank area and the position of the ignition key that makes it hard to find a proper tankbag, I find it claustrophobic to mount any tankbag which inevitably gets into the front part of the seat area. I had a Held square-shaped tankbag which I thought its shape and size would fit well enough to the Tenere and I rode with it for 7000km, but I just find it obtrusive optically and limits my movements of standing up/sitting down.

Yes, sorted, I just whipped a few mm off the end of the HT lead and it's a nice tight fit again. Heading off out through Allston, Penrith then through the Lakes on Sunday. That is, as long as the roads are passable getting up to Alston.

A true triad of venturesome Tenere's.

Hi,
I bought a tank bag from off-the-road, and am pleased with it - although I 've not used it on the bike loaded up.

It does impinge slightly on the rider, but with a realively small tank area, I think most tank bags would.

Fitting wise, you attach 2 straps (1 either side) to the frame, just below the seat (these can remain on the bike at all times, just tuck the tag under the tank).
The bag base then attaches to these to straps, and one strap around the headstock. The bag then zips on easily.

I can get more specific photos if you are interested.
