PCIII info please
Hi,
I was wondering if the power commander was a plug and play thing (No cutting or soldering ect) and if so what is the part number for the kit for an 05 xtx. Also , are these things waterproof or do you have to hide them somewhere in the dry. where do ppl mount them ? At the moment i only have a K&N filter and a set of Staintune Pipes. i was hoping to get the power commander around christmas and also get some more air into it (DNA Stage 2). Thanks Ben |

Yes my friend, the PCIII is indeed a plug and play thing, it comes with very good instructions taylored to the particular bike make/model, so it will be a dodle to instal, rtust me if I can do it you can too, based onthe fact that I am not the most mechanical knoledgeable amongst the other literati here.
Here are the fitting instruction for the PCIII on an XTX/XTR http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...eng412-411.pdf |

The current PCIII usb for the XT660 is plug and play. There was a previous version which needed joining wires but the only thing you need to do now is disconnect two existing plugs and insert the plugs from the PCIII. In addition you need to attach a return wire to the battery negative - connector supplied. Positioning is no problem - the length of wire allows you to place the main unit in the underseat box right at the back. Once connected it's a matter of setting the throttle zero and max and ensuring your chosen map is loaded - both these items are easier if you have a 9v PP3 type battery to provide power so you don't need the engine running.
The model of PCIII usb is the 412-411 labelled 2004-2005 Yamaha XT660-R for all pre-lambda models of XT660. It will be supplied with a generic standard fitments map but any changes for filters/pipes/other air volume changes will require a map from the selection on the Dynojet website or one of the maps on this site (Kev can advise when you tell him ecu type/filters/pipes/bafflesinout and any other changes. Some fettling of your TPS and/or main throttle screw may also be helpful. Things such as AIS changes as well as the items already mentioned are well covered in the threads to be found if you click on the multi-colour XT Mods bit in my signature.
