I bought both of mine from an American bike shop via ebay. As long as it is the correct one (sold in America as for the XT660R 2004 on) it should be O.K.

The drawback is if you have a problem with it none of the UK dealers will deal with you and it would be impractical to sort it through the American side unless you visit frequently.

I gambled and am quite happy.

Assuming you have a pre lambda bike.

As said before elsewhere yes you can but don't expect warranty coverage when purchased overseas. Hopefully nothing should go wrong with it cause all they are is sealed boxes with a few preprogrammed chips inside and they do as it says on the tin, however one spanish member had a problem messing about with the maps and managed to "manicmic" the pcIII firmware, luckily he bought it from a local dealer and was able to send it back for reprogramming.

If that had happened to a unit bought from the USA you know where he could have sticked his pcIII

Yes - mine are a 2004 and a 2006 and they both work fine.
