Insurance Question Regarding Exhausts/Mods

I am considering swapping my standard cans for a set of aftermarket cans most likely CCC's. My question is to those guys who have swapped exhausts have you told your insurance company and if so did it make any change to your premium or cover?

Obviously I am going to call my insurance co. to tell them but before I do but I am very interested to see if anyone here has done the same and did they run into trouble. Again I know insurance company's vary (I am with Eagle Star) but knowing what to sort of expect before I do it is always handy.

TBH I am happy as the bike is but I do like the bling and more importantly the noise which gives all the cage drivers a wake up call.

I told my insurance company about changing my cans and it made no difference at all but as you say all companies vary. I am with Bennetts.
But i do think it is best to tell them even if it does make a slight change in price, otherwise should you ever need to make a claim they will try to get out of it any way they can (no pun intended).

I have always informed insurances about cans throughout by riding life and never had a premium going up as a result from fitting aftermarket exhausts.

I am pleased to hear that you both suffered no increases. This helps me cement the idea of swapping my cans over to something a little tastier...

So hurry up and call Simon (if you tell him that this is the 3rd set you've got from him he might do you an even better deal)

Alternatively send a pm to a certain scooby luva who owns an idle set of Carbon stubbies with carbon domed ends

I have spoken the fatster but TBH I am not sold on the new stubbies, they are ok but I prefer the older version, its either stainless rounds or ovals again. Cant make my mind up.

Just make sure your insurance company has recorded it on there database and that you have copy of somesort saying that you have had this change on your insurance document.

Reason is my dad rand up about putting on a large touring screen on his bike, the insurance company said no thats ok no increase, but he went to renew his insurance, and it automatically said he had no extras, he rang them up they said they never heard of him putting any extras on at all. Even though the time before he was on for a good 20mins making sure they got all the correct information about the bike and screen correct.

I havent informed my insurance company about my exhaust cans yet, but i plan on doing this when i renew it in June sometime. But i dont like the idea of having to tell them every little thing that is on my bike that is not standard. (heated grips, screen, hand guards, gear lever, rear risers, rear rack, givi plate for top box, top box, cans etc) Im with rampdale only cause they where cheapest for me and allowed me to ride my dad honda varadero 3rd PO for an extra 100.
