Guys a was passin a garage yesterday weve all saw them a hanfu a guys in an area washin cars an covering them wi the white soap, then powerwashin them off...well a done just that an got them tae give it the once oer....tae ma horror all ma metal parts like footpegs front an rear, brake pedal side stand, calipers,etc when it drys in..it all goes a kinda bluey Matt colour as if theyve been in a Fire....what a terrible colour it leaves oh aye an ma wheel rims as well...its gonna take a lot o cleanin now...thats if it comes off an gives me a shine again,,,, it must be some kinda acid in the soap tae get all the tar an stuff off of cars...so be warned....dont do as i done....mabozzar

sounds like the industry cleaber to me you may good bye to ur nice paint finish if you start using that too much. Seen too many of those guys doing cars washs, normally you get the old dropped sponge covered in grit game, or o i just missed a entire panel but that will still cost you about �4 or something stupid.

Just had another look at this and it is making me weep! I looked after than so much!

Anyway it looks like the cleaner they used propably traffic film remover was set at a far to high a strength. This has then eaten at the finish. Have you got an after picture so I can really start crying?

I guess there's just no substitute for good ole fashion elbow greese (I find it strangely satisfying too). I hope the shine returns mate and the damage is not irideemable.

I use acid cleaner myself called Hippo. I was warned by the guy that sold it to me to dilute it 50% with water and make sure I wet the bike first to save the plastic from loosing it's shine. It's good stuff but I still think MucOff is the best.

BTW. You shouldn't jet wash a bike. You will loose the grease in the wheel bearings if you do.

I like MucOff but there's got to be something cheaper that does the same job??? I heard somebody once used oven cleaner but without knowing how it turned out I'm a bit nervy of trying it. Oh... where's Buck when you need him???

Is that true about the wheel bearing grease? Aren't they supposed to be sealed?

i use swarfega degreaser it is exactly the same colour as mucoff only half the price it comes in 2 litres but you dilute it to 25 litres .i used to use it for my offroad ktm and it works a treat
