rear brake pads are the same on XTR/XTX, look in the parts catalogue and quote that part to EBC, rest assured that they will know what you are talking about because a few people have bought pads from them before.
Do a search on the forum for Parts Catalogue and it will bring up the thread which I can't remember where it is. Cheers Last edited by CaptMoto; 08-06-08 at 09:26. |

Time to change brake pads. I'm going down with the EBC . Which are the best for my XT600R ? The "Kevlar organic" or the "Double -H Sintered" and what is the difference between the materials?

What is EBC saying...
EBC Organic Brake Pads
Europe's first and only ECE R90 approved pad. These pads brake as well as sintered pads, as proved by R90 compliance.
Made in our own factory in Bristol, England, the EBC Kevlar series has now been renamed NAO series or Non-Asbestos Organic, although we still use the famous Dupont Kevlar fibre in conjunction with other high tech fibres that have come on the market. The NAO series are a superb all round value-for-money replacement for all levels of motorcycle and are still extremely popular with many riders who prefer the "feel" of organic pads.
NAO series are fully TUV tested and KBA certified and conform to the new ECE R90 brake regulations which are about to storm the European market. EBC is at the forefront of this technology and will be the first on the market to offer Reg. 90 approved pads and packaging. Most EBC organic pads have expansion grooves which reduce noise and prevent cracking. The aramid fibre compound with non-ferrous particles helps to prevent surface "scorching" under load.
EBC MX-S Series Pads
These pads are an excellent choice of all weather performance formulation for moto-X and ATV racing, with the highest HH rated friction for maximum stopping power and long lifetime. Although the new Extreme Pro sintered pads will also be a hot favourite amongst racers until 2008 MX-S pads have been very popular in cross country riding.
Being a sintered copper alloy MX-S pads also have excellent durability in sand, wet and mud riding and are at the same time less aggressive to the brake rotor.
FREE SLIDER PINS are included with most pad sets except those with multiple pin choices to replace worn bent or seized pin sets. The pin sets provided free in the EBC set are mostly external hex drive pins which are easier to remove than internal hexagon formed allen key or hex wrench internal type hardware. Diamond ground surface finish accelerates pad break-in.

Have just ordered a set for Blackie - 4977 miles as at 2/9/08 - the last lot were new when I bought him last year with 3600 miles on the clock but I don't know what brand of chocolate they were made from - they didn't dare put a brand name on them.
Decided to go for the HH and see how they feel - if not good I can use them on Bluey whose discs get a lot hotter - but be careful of the torque effect as identified by Parkez and reported by nein in another thread. I wonder if the fatter tyre of the X conversion makes a difference or if it's all down to the more powerful brake lever assembly? EBC includes the 48 hour delivery in their discounted price for forum members so they should be here for next week-end. Quite looking forward to having front brake stronger than back brake again!
