Thumbs up hello from bristol

I've now own my 2005 xt660x for a year now

Its been an up and down ownership, for starters a second hand head was required as previous owner had cemented the exhausts into the ports so had to cut the pipes off, rear exhausts were so rusted they fell apart so new down pipes and free flowing (louder) exhaust were brought.
Now 6 months on after enjoying the thump of this engine through the local lane another little issue started, popping back firing and surging and then it stopped lucky I was near home, the bike would turn over but wouldn't start,
spark plug was black and smelt of fuel.
I read on hear somewhere on xt660.com of sticking injector so striped it down but was unable to get the injector out of the body as a knackered cross heads previous owner again, so onto fleabay and found near new carb with new injector fitted 70 notes lighter (140 for a new injector) it is now fitted and so a shake down is now required but so far so good
I have gained a lot of information from xt660.com so thanks to everyone on here.
I have completed several mods and the kev fuel mod is next
Still love the sound of this bike and the way it handles the back lanes around here
steve
