strange echo like sound?

lately when I start the bike cold and I am putting on my gear I can hear this "hollow" sort of sound coming from the engine, like its down a drainpipe. it doesn't happen constantly but is noticeable.

I fitted dna stage 3 airbox cover a while back but I'm fairly sure it's not that as it has only been noticable recently and only happens when the bike is cold.

Hoping someone has experienced this before?

airbox is all good, idle is set at 1500 when warmed up.

it's the usual kind of lumpy idle when it warms, barely going up or down from 1500rpm

I have a feeling it's a fuelling/ignition gremlin that's making a slight misfire that's echoing up through airbox and I'm only noticing it now with the dna stage 2 cover.

I'm leaving it over to the mechanic on thursday for new tyres so will ask him to have a listen while it's there
