Oil usage & OTR 11.5:1 piston

Hi.
It seems as if the previous owner misused my XTX, since I bought it I monitored the oil consumption and it averages in the region of 1ml to 1km when traveling at around 120km/h. I did a compression test and got +-80psi instead of 85.3 - 99.6psi. Now I want to open the engine to see and measure everything, but thought of getting a OTR piston set while I am opening up. The OTR piston is a 11.5:1 compression ratio. In South Africa we have 93 & 95 octane fuel, what do you guys think, will I encounter ping? Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

you might also get away with just replacing the piston rings... or it's the valve seals that are blowing oil...

With a 11:1 piston and 95 RON I never experienced any knock. I have read before the ignition advance of the XT 660 is quite conservative so you might get away with 11.5:1 and 95 RON.

But to be honest the high compression piston is only worth it if you consider changing the camshaft as well otherwise you don't get much benefit from it. Otherwise I would try first to replace the rings only.
