Fuel pump not priming - starter not cranking
This morning on my way to work, my bike stalled and I could not get it started again. Engine would not crank. I moved my bike to the side of the road and tried a couple more times with no success. I turned the key a few times and noticed that the fuel pulp was not priming.
No error lights as far as I can tell. Is it normal that it won't crank when the fuel pump is not priming and can I suspect a broken fuel pump? Or does no fuel and no crank point towards a problem with the start relay? I haven't had the chance to check power to the fuel pump yet but I will do so soon. Some added info: a few months ago my bike started running really rough while I was riding it and was low on fuel. It was jumping/surging real bad and would only keep running at very high RPM, the next day it stalled out a few times and the pump would only prime every few times I turned the ignition on. This problem went away after I finally got it started and did a long ride and it had been fine ever since. Thanks for any tips or info on what to check. |

I tested some stuff today. Fuel pump is still working when I power it directly. Starter relay still works when powering straight from battery and starter engine works when bridging start relay. Still no fuel pump priming when I switch the bike on.
Any ideas? |

Turns out the killswitch connector underneath the tank got corroded and was no longer giving a connection.
