Throttle cut off when accelerating
HI! I had a stock xt660r-04 that i have recently installed a OTR 2in1 Exhaust with a GPR race slipon silencer on, without db-killer fitted (almost straight through).
When I testride it for the first time after I fitted the new exhaust, it run very poorly. when accelerating with about 40% throttle or more it cuts off for about 1-2 seconds and then goes back on again, It is worse and does so more easily on lower gears. The bike also got harder and harder to start. My first thoughts was that it was running lean, but I removed the airbox cover just to see if i't would run better and I noticed that it got easier to start. So I order a Powercommander 5, k&n standard filter, DNA stage 2 airbox cover filter and I have also removed the snorkel. I asked OTR for a fitting map to my setup, and i got a map for the DNA stage 2 filter and OTR 2in1 exhaust with a akrapovic silencer on (road legal). But even with this map it runs the same if not even worse. I have also tried other maps that I have found on this forum but all have the same problem. Another thing I have noticed is that when my bike is idleling and is set to nuetral and I put it on the sidestand, the engine stalls after about 2 seconds and I can't start it, but when I turn off and on the ignition and have the bike upright, I can start it again. And the bike can't be started when it is on it sidestand, but the startermotor i still turning. Any kind of advice or thoughts are very welcome! Best Regards Emil |

First proper ride of my bike which was slightly unnerving was it just turned itself off at 70 ! Wasnt sure what to do,I just pressed the starter and it just came back on like where it left off, very strange and it did the same on a bloody roundabout that same day Had a run yesterday it stalled once at the lights but I think Im probably getting to ride it better than back when I first got it.Bikes standard apart from a Dominator exhaust ... Hope you get it sorted. |

I have experienced the engine switching off while riding, fortunately I was on a low traffic road! I think this is what happened in my case: the side stand is a heavy & long piece of metal and the srping holding it in place is not strong enough. when up, depending on your shoe size and riding position, you can brush you hill against it and trigger the stand switch which is what I think happened as I was going over a speed bump. You will also notice when down, the stand is not firmly held and can easily come up |
