off-the-road.de OTR sells Akrapovic replica??
Hello, everyone. I’m saving some money to buy a 2 in 1 Akrapovic exhaust, but at the moment I’m taking a look in second-hand websites and other websites like off-the-road.de
I have gone to the stores in my area to ask for prices and to see if they sell 2 in1 Akrapovic. All the stores told me that it doesn’t exist a 2 in 1 version of Akrapovic. This was quite strange because I saw that off-the-road.de sells them, so I do not understand. For this reason, I asked Yamaha first and then I contacted directly to Akrapovic to ask about this. They told me that they do not manufacture this exhaust that OTR sells and that is not theirs. So I contacted OTR to ask them about that exhaust and they say that Akrapovic makes them exclusively for them. I answered them saying that I had already asked Akrapovic and they told me that they do not manufacture it. So I asked OTR again if it was an adaptation of an exhaust from another motorcycle and they answered directly that if I do not like it I should buy another and that there are many different exhausts on the market but also they told me that they sell their own brand. They avoided every moment to answer if it was homologated. I continued researching a little and I saw that in Aliexpress they sell an Akrapovic replica and they are exactly the same as the one that OTR sells. Also, someone of my town has this exhaust from Aliexpress and it looks pretty good, very well made, I don’t know about the efficiency. I have Attached some photos so you can see the imitation. There are different types of stickers for the exhaust and different brands like Yoshimura. If you see the comments and opinions in Aliexpress, everyone talks very well about them and no one makes any bad comments. Where I want to get is .... if Akrapovic does not manufacture and OTR sells them and they answered avoiding my questions I can just think and everything points to, that is very probable that they sell also an Akrapovic replica for 900€. Also, many people say they have had problems with the ITV in Spain (technical inspection of vehicles), these exhausts should come with a certificate and a serial number that corresponds to the certificate, although that could be manipulated as well. What do you think? I’m going to try the Chinese for the moment until I can buy something better because right now the only thing I want is to remove weight. These Chinese exhausts you can find them for less than 40€. These are Akrapovic Replicas, but there are a lot more of them with different designs This is the off-the-road.de Akrapovic The sticker is different from the common Replica sticker but you can change it and put any other one. |

You'll find the replicas are carbon 'fiber' look in that style, were as the original one's are carbon fibre with the carbon fibre mounting strap. I'm not a big fan off carbon fiber look stuff but I'll agree that their titanium look ones look ok for the money.
I decided a few months back to replace my well worn mtc carbon can with another can and sourced an oval akrapovic can which has just been shortneed buy about 4" to suit the xtz . I'll need to sleave it to fit the mtc link pipe but not a big issue. I even have another spare standard length oval akrapovic I'm going to sell as I had to buy bought cans from their previous sp1 owner. Colin J
