I have just registered today on your site. I have previously used the info that has been posted with great results. I am sitting with a problem with my X engine. I went for a 60km ride on the weekend and the engine was really performing well.
The engine had the usual noise these Thumpers make. I then heard a knocking noise when the engine is at idle up to approx. 1300 RPM.I read on your site that there has been issues with the crank gear nut coming loose.
I have removed the R/H clutch and side cover and found that the nut and gears was still secure and in place .I checked the clutch basket retaining nut and found secure.
If I ride the bike there is no lack of performance or excessive knock like a main bearing or crank pin bearing failure
engine oil and filter changed 3000km ago (MOBIL 1=
Please can you give me some more areas that might be the cause of this knocking noise.
