Exhaust shorten...

Hello guys, it's my first post here

So I got a pair of Akrapovic SP 2 in 2, and I decided to go for 2 in 1 using one in the pair. But after fit the 2 in 1 pipe and only one can, remove the silencer, I feel the bike has a little more pop back when running.

I want to ask if any of you are running a 2 in 1 with the sp can? It's this pair

And would it be ok if I just cut the can shorter? I found this article here of a guy who trimmed his exhaust shorter

http://www.zenfire.ws/shortenak.htm

And please sorry for my English

Best regards,
Dan

PS/ does anyone know where I can buy the repack kit also?

You will get more noticeable 'popping' from the AIS system with one can rather than two simply because there is less silencing. Shortening an end can is relatively straightforward but again, it will be louder still and the 'popping' will be worse.

You can block the AIS system to minimise the backfiring if you don't like it. See here.

As for baffle packing/wadding, ebay is the best place to find it. There are loads of sellers, probaly some in your country, but here's one to get you going: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Silencer-Muffler-Repacking-Kit

Thanks man. Do you think changing from dual exhaust to a single one will affect the bike's performance? Since I think it would be harder to push all the smoke/gas out because now it's 1/2 volume?

The laws of exhaust physics suggest that a 2-1 system will give slightly better torque and low end power and a 2-2 leans towards better top-end performance. However, on a stock XT motor these differences will be marginal.

Thanks, that clears up my concern
