Fuel light always on

Had a look at an XT/X with the intention of purchasing it, whilst checking it out I noticed some black tape over a warning light the dash, they told me it's because the fuel light stays on, any fixes for this?

thanks
Mick

I would hazard a guess that the float on the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank is stuck down or faulty or a dodgy electrical connection?

As above. It'll most likely be wiring or connector related.

Just out of interest, if you scroll through the trips on the dash with the select button, are there three trips, or two? If there are the two normal trips and a third (the 'F-Trip' - Kms since reserve level was reached) and the light is on then it'll almost certainly be a sender problem in the tank.

Either way, it shouldn't be a deal breaker as the fuel light tells lies anyway and shouldn't ever be relied upon!

Apologies for the small topic hijack: but is this true? Ive always felt that my fuel light comes on way too soon. Sometimes it comes on, then turns off again only to come on a bit later again.
