Clutch/gearbox issues

The Tenere never stop giving me headache and problems....

I was pulling in to a hostel backyard yesterday and had to pass over a rather tall thresold. I used the clutch and revved the engine a little, stalled the bike 1 time and the second time I revved the engine and boila I came over the thresold. But after that the clutch didnt work anymore. It seems to work normally - but it doesnt disengage the engine/gearbox. I had the clutch over off together with an experienced mechanic and it looks normal. So I guess that it indicates that it is the gearbox that is the problem? And that means that the engine need to be splitted I suppose...?

Any thoughts and advice appriciated.....

Thanks in advance.

Did you actually take the clutch basket out and the clutch plates? If not, that's where I'd start. Just a visual inspection under the cover with it all in place is not going to reveal the full story.

If the gearbox won't disengage from the engine's drive then it can only be the clutch mechanism. It is not going to be the gearbox at fault. If the gearbox was broken, jammed up or stuck, then you would still be able to disengage it from the engine using the clutch.

Hi Pleiades and thanks for answer.

Yes I have had the whole clutch basket off and inspected it - and I cant find anything wrong other than a bit worn plates. Have to add that I had an experienced mechanic helping me with this.
The mechanic told me that it probably would be forks in the gearbox that have broken.
Anyhow the engine is out now and on its way to a shop that will have a closer look at it....
