Error code 53 Immobilizer system

After some maintainance and a good wash I took the Ten out for a spin a few kms. Stopped and went into a shop for a few minutes. When I came back the bike wont start. Ignition comes on as normal when I turn the key and engine spins as I push the starter button but it wont start. Got error code 53 from the immobilizer system - which indicates that "Codes cannot be transmitted between the ECU unit and the immobilizer system"

Any advice to cure this problem?

You've probably got a damp and/or corroded connector somewhere either at the ECU end or the transponder at the ignition barrel end of things?

Well - took off the tank, deconnected the battery, went through all connections with high pressure air - and still the same code. Just took it to a Yama garage. This bike is starting to go to my nerves....

And the bike has now been checked at a Yama garage - and all wiring seems fine. According to the workshop manual the next step is to replace the immobilizer unit - and if thats not working - replace the ECU. And the garage cannot guarantee that this will cure the errors. The garage also mentioned that since it is a bike sold in Europe - an australian immobilizer unit might or might not work. Anyone that will know anything about this?
Anyhow - will any immobilizer unit from XTR or XTX or even other models be compatible with my bike?

Im in Australia for the moment and a backorder will take 3-4 weeks and the price for a new immobilizer unit is + 600 AUSD. So this doesent look good....

Any suggestions folks?

cause:
Noise interference or disconected lead/cable.
Interference due to radio wave noise.
Disconnected comunication harness.
Immobilizer unit malfunction.
ECU malfunction.

Troubleshooting:
Try starting with the red key.
Disconnect all accessories that can influence the CAN system.
Check the wire harness and connector.
Ceck CAN signal, system and harness. (some workshops dont know how to do this)
Replace the main switch/immobilizer unit.
Replace the ECU.

I see there have been mentioned to bypass the immobilizer unit in earlier threads about this same problem. Can that be an easy and cheap solution?

The bike has done + 120 k kms already and its not worth a whole lot - so a bike with or without an immobilizer system wouldnt bother me at all...

Well - the local garage have done a good deal to help me. They have taken both the whole ignition barrel and the ECU of a brand new identical bike they have in on the floor and replaced those with the same on my bike - but still got the error code 53 in the dash on my bike.

So right now it seems a bit of a mystery whats going on in my bike.

Any suggestions folks?

The above would tend to suggest it's a wiring issue as you've eliminated the two main components from your enquiries. That just leaves what's connecting the two together. You may have to painstakingly do continuity tests on all the wires connecting the ECU to the immobiliser unit. Especially the yellow wire with a blue trace.

Also consider any shorts, water/damp or corrosion in the empty multiplug(s) under the seat for the factory fit alarm can cause the immobiliser to do funny things.
