Electrical Ignition Issue

Hi Everyone,

I posted another post a week ago however it was not enough information for anyone to provide me with some advice. So here is my problem in more specific details. This is about my XT660X

After my battery drained several times, the bike eventually did not start at all. After charging the battery and putting the battery back, placed it in properly really, smoke came out of the ignition. We dissembled the ignition and found out that this part (see picture) was burned through, part number: 5VS00450768B model nr: 5SL-00. Fact is that it seemed to have been tempered with in the past.

What will i need to fix my bike? Can i just get a new IMMOB.UNIT.COMP or will i need to buy the computer as well?

Sorry, but your description is still a bit vague.

The part number quoted is not recognisable as an XT part. 5VS- prefix refers to FJR1300 models. 5VK- prefix is the reference for XT models. Have a look again and see if you can make out exactly what it is. Also the image you've linked to is so small I can't make anything useful out.

Debs on the other thread you started I have asked you kindly to take a pic of the damaged part, you mentioned something was stolen, unless you show us this exact part or what is left of it after the pilferage we can't figure out what's missing or damaged.

And it's not that we "failed" to help you, we haven't got a crystal ball

HI CaptMoto,

I did! The link is the exact part that was burned. That part is the reason why the bike is not working. I do not know how else to explain it. That the only part that is broken.

I can't seem to see the part via your link Debs & I couldn't find any thing on the part number you listed. On a OEM part supplier it says the part is 5YK8255P00, if it is the bit that sits under the ignition barrel. Its listed at $559 Aus Dollars. Maybe the part on your bike was a quick fix to get it running as to sell it on? Perhaps the whole ignition assembly has been changed?

5YK-8255P-00 also listed on this site,

Sorry for a silly suggestion as I don't know you situation but is it possible to contact where you got the bike from? Good luck.

Whoops, just looked back at your first post you have an XTX don't you. the parts I listed are for Tenere's so probably not much use. Sorry.

Prefix 5VS is for the XTX

Prefix 5YK is for the Z (Tenere)

As I said earlier the part number you quote does not exist and the photo is too small to be of any help.

Have a look at the screen shot below of the parts catalogue. Look at the immobiliser parts (12) and let us know which one it is that has been drilled. I suspect is might be (14).

If it is, then the only way round your problem is to buy (12) the complete main switch and immobilser kit (ignition switch, antenna, ECU, tank cap and seat lock) unless you have the RED MASTER KEY for the bike in your possession, which is unlikely if it was stolen and recovered. Do you have that red key?
