Standard xt660z spring rate?
Hi there, im looking to find the spring rate for the standard fitted rear spring (xt660z 2010). I can't seem to find it in the manual or elsewhere in the forum. If anyone knows....
Thanks very much. |

The stock spring rate on the Sachs shock (all years) is 68N/mm when new, and that's the problem; it doesn't stay 68N/mm for long. By 10,000 miles, when I removed mine, it was more like 55N/mm!
The stock fork springs are 4.8N/mm on pre-2012 Paioli sprung bikes and 4.4-5.4N/mm on post-2012 KYB progressively sprung front ends. |

thanks for that. im about to replace the spring as i am riding two up from uk to mongolia leaving next week...ideally i would replace the entire shock as ive read the stock damper can have trouble keeping up but ive literally spent all the cash prepping for our trip! - i purchased the bike at 11500 miles before xmas and felt some kind of rear upgrade was necessary hoping the spring replacement will be better than nothing considering the load, .
cheers, |
