Ive killed my xtr :(

Hi hope u can help
2010 xt660r with 2 in one exhaust and kev MOD.

Rode it fine. Gave it a wash . Road it some more. Sounded sweet n crisp and a happy xt.
Got in it today. Left it 5 mins running. Started 1st click.
Little murmur a surge ... pretty normal I think. Ride down the road. It cut out. Then fired. Over n over till I was half a mile away then died.
She stunk of fuel. Fuel in the header pipes and more further down . Like it had blown back through the connection in the two in one . Fuel on the water pump to and the other header.
Plug sticks of fuel too. I covered it and turned her over. Don't want it setting on fire like last time.
No discernible fuel coming out of the plug hole.but she still doesn't want to fire.
The header pipes were not the tightest when I checked. But not slack either.

Any clues ? Help ?

I've checked. It's blowing back out the exhaust. It's in the menders now as I've no garage and no idea
I'll post the diagnosis when I find out

More often than not catastrophic, sudden and inexplicable over-fuelling is caused by an injector that has failed or got stuck in the open position. I had similar happen on two occasions with car engines, both on Lucas injected Rover V8s. In both cases, pulling the fuel rail off and turning on the ignition immediately revealed the issue as petrol pi55es out at an unbelievable rate from permanently stuck open injector! The first time it happened, just one (out of eight) failed injectors blew nearly four gallons of fuel out the exhaust in a couple of miles! The fuel gets everywhere too, like you noticed: any slightly leaky exhaust joint, spark plug seals, inlet manifold seals etc etc.

Biggest issue with this problem (if it is a stuck injector) is bore wash if the motor has been run any distance in a horrendous over-fuelled condition. Carbon deposits get rinsed off the rings and bore and, more crucially the excess fuel washes past the oil control ring and gets into the sump/tank and oil system ruining the oils ability to lubricate.

Cheers

It's in capable hand now. I'll do another oil n filter change. Did it last week already it's averaging about 2.5 k per change.

It takes some serious hammer but gets lavished regularly.

Thanks for the advice.
