Low on oil after oil change

Hello! I was wondering if anybody ever encountered the following problem: I checked the oil level of my 2006 xt660x, (as per manual, just after a good run, bike leveled), and found an extremely low oil condition, dipstick does not touch.

Decided to change the oil and filter, was due soon anyway, 2.5L came out, and replaced with 2.6L as per manual, and again, after a run, dipstick does not touch.

Opening tank cap with the engine running made a mess so oil looks to be coming up this way, and also removed the oil filter bleeder bolt and oil is coming out fast as well. Can the oil be draining too fast from the tank upon turning the engine off?

Any thoughts?

Much appreciated!

Terence

Hehe the old problem.....the manual says to warm up the bike for 5 mins at tick over and then check the level. If you check with the engine hot then the oil is still in the motor and so very low in the tank I guess. Same with my Raptor and when I changed oil and filter yesterday I removed 2.5L of oil, and refilled with 1.85L as per the book. Feels MUCH better so make sure you do not overfill.

If you put in 2.6L as per handbook then you must assume the oil quantity in the bike is correct.
two possible problem:
you are not checking it correctly or oil is leaking out of or inside the bike (god forbid!)
I check mine after a normal run. Try do yours after 3 mins.
Incidently I remember if the level is to the top of the stick then you should be able to see it though the plug hole (specially the oil foam)

Leveled and not on a side stand.
