Super moto wheels and no cushdrive.
Hi guys, my bike has had many modifications since i got it. And is exceptional in every way. (although i may be biased hehe) but after a few ride outs with super moto buddies i struggle to stick with them in the twisties. Even on road tyres. The front just doesnt feel planted.
Ive got an ohlins shock. And WP fork conversion, all dialled in. So can alter steering angles ride height etc. Im blaming the large front wheel and skinny rear. So im thinking i might put in some supermoto wheels just too see what happens. I googled and found an xt660z on xt660x wheels in and it looked awsome but all information was in potugese. Ive got a set of wheels allready, husaberg 450 hubs, excel rims, the front is a direct fit for my WP fork conversion. (Awsome) The rear i can make fit, But................. It doesnt have a cush drive. Will this kill my allready abused, (trailer hauling, offroaded, jumped) gearbox, or is the cushdrive more for rider comfort and smooth power delivery rather than gearbox preservation. Because I plan ahead ive ordered an xt660x rear wheel too. Im asuming this will drop straight in. Looks like it will. Watch this space.

My XR650R in Supermoto form has no cush drive....but as you say the Ten is designed with one. Talon do a hub with cush drive. I've thought about doing this....was thinking about a 19 inch front in order to get a bit more rubber down up front. As the rear is already a 17 how about lacing a wider rim onto the Tenere hub...you could then fit the widest tyre, (swing arm permitting ), that would solve the cush drive problem ...not being very helpful I'm afraid, just throwing some ideas in . Initially I missed that planted front end of the XR , but as confidence increased I find myself getting braver on the Tenere . I'm selfishly hoping you do this as I would love to see what the Tenere looks and handles like in SMOTO form!. Steve

I used to have an XR650r supermoto and was also considering fitting moto wheels to the Ten, then a decent XTX caught my eye, it arrives on Friday, saves me swapping wheels I suppose, be interesting to see how the two compare though.

Loved this bike, some lowlife tried to steal it from where I used to work, so had to sell it to buy a car as I didn't want to leave a bike there anymore ( think it had a lot to do with security tipping people off)

Nice stoppie a big supermoto.
theiving gets im glad they never got their mitts on it. Ive thought. About lacing a supermoto rim too my Ten hub but i want my wheel with a knobblie on ready to swap.
Thats the same picture i saw of the SuperM Ten The xt660x wheel ive ordered (ebay italy) looks like it same hub as tenere, so should slot right in with the excel rim can put a massive tire on. Theres lots of room in the ten swingarm. But the yam wheels weigh a ton, berg wheels are much lighter. Ill get pics up this weekend if it all goes together. Ill let you know if i can scrape them pegs
