Hi to change the clutch is a simple job with a cup of tea and taking your time it's an hour. Just us the haynes manual. If I was you use OEM plates. I have used a well knower after market brand on my cbr 929s and 954s and they tend to stick when you park the bike up even if you soak them before putting them in. Have taken them out re put in OEM plates and never had a problem with them. Must have done 10 clutches in the last 3 years. I will not use anything but OEM now. Hope this helps

It was 1500km when my plates went put with no really hard riding. Dealer told me nothing was broken just plates cooked... I guess tenere doesn't like slipping clutch at all. |

Hi
Not 100% on the xt plates but from my experience when using after market plates ( on sports bikes) after parking the bike up even only after a day or so they stick ( not all the time) and had to put the bike into gear and really rock it back and forth really hard to get them to release pain in the ass. Only ever had the problem with after market plates never OEM plates. Just my opinion on one aftermarket brand I used and happened more than once on different bikes ( let's say the brand had 3 letters ). Not saying there aren't better ones. But I am happy to use OEM and if I have to change them more often that's not a problem, at least I know they are right for the bike.its Just my choice. |

I put aftermarket plates in my ten , the three letter brand, never had a problem with them whatsoever, I use synthetic oil , but never had a problem...I think it's another one of those each to there own things..

BTW, is it possible to change the clutch plates putting motorcycle on the side and not draining the oil down? I have seen this method with dirt bikes. Could be useful when needing to change plates on the road and not having fresh oil handy.
