Fork springs

Looking to change my springs in the forks,I'm quite a hefty chap and the stock ones seem to sag a lot,is there a way of doing it without removing the forks from the bike??..

Theoretically, yes you can swap fork springs without removing the forks. Support the front end, remove the caps and hook out the spacers and springs. However...

In practice, it is not a great idea and will result in compromised performance. Different springs require displace different amounts of oil depending on the number/thickness of windings, so you can't then rely on the oil volume/capacity given in the manual, or rely on the right quantity being in the legs in the first place! Even if you syringe out and/or add oil, you won't ever have a clue exactly how much is in there!

To do it properly, and with the best results, you need to invert the forks and pump out/expel ALL the old oil so you know they're empty and can start afresh, measuring the exact amount specified by the manufacturer of the springs. You also need to check the air gap too, which can only be properly done with the forks out of the bike. Setting the correct oil level and air gap are crucial factors in achieving the best performance you can out of your forks.

SEEM !.... So you don't really know how much ?
They should sag 1/3rd of the travel "33%" when you are on the bike...
Have some numbers it's the only way yer going to
get it right.. most people don't...
