Things so far

Got some Barkbusters & centre stand fitted on today. Happy with progress to date.
I must be getting old or something but I never thought I would get excited over a centre stand. Chain , swing arm and numerous other jobs just got a whole lot easier, plus taking the weight of the bike off the suspension when not in use. I went for the Yamaha one as it has got a lot of thumbs up in previous posts.
So up to now the Ten has been fitted with :-

Kev fuel & O2 controller,
Twist grip mod,
Cush Drive rubber mod, (still rock solid )
Akropovic exhaust,
Pivot pegz
Altech Explorer rack, Rad Guard & Sprocket cover,
USB Charger,
Gammatronix Volt meter,
Shorty Levers,
Barkbusters,
Centre stand,
And of course a Head light protector all the way from Norfolk. Thanks heaps Pleiades
Dialectic grease throughout,
Wiring loom protected where needed,
Swing arm & Head bearings greased.

So all being well the bike should be good for a while.





The only other thing I'd like to get sorted in the not to distant future is some Spot lights.
If anyone else is going to fit Barkbusters that hasn't already then I would recommend having a ball end Allen key handy (5mm I think it was) to aid fitting as the bar clamp bolts are half under the cross brace on the handlebars. Cheers for now.

Oh yeah forgot to mention while researching centre stands in previous threads that some peoples rubber bungs have fallen off so I squirted some liquid nails on the back of them so perhaps will hang on a bit longer. We'll see.

The lights I've been looking at are from Poland & have been used in Dakar Rallies. They can be wired to operate as daytime running lights as well as full strength on high beam. There is a tidy little light bar too.

Bike looks great....and I bet the centre stand is a blessing at times. I think I've put off getting one as it's ingrained in my mind that they were always the first thing you unbolt ed from your bike, in the 'olden' days! . Another mod on my to do list!. I like the spec and look of the spotlights in the link you posted, be interested to know if you go for them. Going back to the centre stand, another reason for having one is on ferry crossings. ..it's quite harsh on the seat and suspension when they strap the bike down and it's on a sidestand. You've modded your bike into a mighty fine Tenere, Desert Racer! Steve

Looking awesome desert racer!..the bar busters are a must!..it's a shame we can't get our two white ones together,think they may look like twins!..I'm seriously considering a centre stand , my only issue is ground clearance, how much does it reduce it by?..cheers jo..

That is one thing i know about :-)

During the warm half of the year i take the mootorcycle with a 1 hour ferry across Kattegat twice a week.



Usually the sea is calm but sometimes it shows it teeth.

Even when i had a center stand i always used the side stand so that the suspension could take some of the punisment.

On the pony I just use two straps from the rear pegs to the flow. The one opposite the sidestand first so that it compresses the suspension a bit and then the sidestand side to make sure that it wont be able to raise enough that it could get of the sidestand (used to have a bike with a spring loaded sidestand)

I just use a pair of simple tie-downs

They are much easier to use than the cheap racket ones that are provided (and too cheap because of theft) and I've done so since 2002 with 4 different motorcycles. Their newest and biggest ferries are much more stable in rough see than the one i used the first ~5 years.

Thanks fellas, the stand I suppose is about an inch or so lower than the suspension linkage. While the feet are up next to the swing arm.
At least it might stop you sinking into mud to far if you happen to get yourself stuck in the stuff eh Jo? ;-) & yeah would be great to park the bikes up together.
They are no wider than the folded up foot pegs. & if you do find yourself in some deep narrow ruts then you would probably hit the main foot pegs first.

Right at the end of that polish link it says the Supermini is NOT recommended for motorcycles?

Hi Desert Racer

How do you find the buzz on the bars, as I see you have got quite a bit of weight on the ends?

I have a Fatbar with solid OTR Bushes, that has a bit of buzz - would be nice to have less.

I never saw that? But there are a lot of pictures in there gallery of bikes fitted with them, I suppose its just the small print get out clause. Just like my Akrapovic pipes & Headlight protector say "Not for road use" when they are designed for a road specific bike.

Incidentally those Superminis are also avaliable on the Holan website a bit cheaper, but don't have the paypal option. I think Greatescape bought a rack from the Holan site but had a few problems with them.

Hand guards just used to be one piece of plastic that bolted on the brake & clutch bolt. Now they are broken up into Hardware fitting kit, which comes with a small weight that fits between the grip metal bar, then choose the plastic guard. Then you can have the 'additional' bar end weights on the outside.for another AU$50. They don't look much but do have a bit of weight to them, I found there was no more vibration at the grips than with the original bar end weights.
You can if you wish add 'Skid plates' to the outer edges, a bit more protection for the already installed protectors.
