Ignition barrel lock

Hi guys,

I am working on a fork conversion and I have a liitle prob. How I can remove the ignition barrel lock? It seems that a SST is needed however I did not fing anything in the service manual - neither SST nor disassembly instructions.

Can you please advise?

Thanks.

Ah, and by the way does anybody know if the steering head bearing is the same for Z and an R?

The reason their removal doesn't appear in the service manual is for security reasons. They are shear bolts and as such the head snaps off them and they cannot be removed in the normal way with a tool special or otherwise. The only way to remove the barrel is to carefully drill out the bolts.

Not sure? They have different parts numbers so I'd guess they are probably different.

Thanks, Pleiades.

As always your advise is very helpful.

I was hoping there to be other way than drilling out the bolts.

Thanks a lot.
