Clutch cable....watchout

I recently found the need to do a clutch cable adjustment that I found unusually sudden.
Take note! I should've looked into why this was necessary, cos within a day or two the cable went from working, but needing adjustment to this:

Bike is only 4 years old, I keep it clean and there was no sign of corrosion by the nipple in the clutch lever, so wasn't expecting that, maybe a duff cable...
anyway you have been warmed.

where did the break occur along the cable?

yes agree now you are wiser
if you ride bicycles you will know that sudden slack in the cable means broken strands
