my dash mod with tacho, may need help though!

hi guys, earlier I posted about fitting an aftermarket dash to the xtx as I bought a bike with a missing one (auctions-it was smashed and missing). I cant find one for under $350 (australian), so will look at the other option of fitting an aftermarket one. the trail tech, koso and acewell all sound ok but are also expensive. (i would buy an original one if I could for $250 but will opt for a $50 ebay one and do the conversion. I'll miss out on the on-dash diagnostics and Co adjustments, but will have the advantage of having a tacho. (i've access to other bikes locally with a dash so could swap over later briefly for diag etc if need be. so heres the dash I'm thinking of fitting. its on Ebay and heres the link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/351518562...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I bought one of these before for a DR800 but the speedo was the cable type. I still have the old dash and heres a pic of it just sitting over another XTX to show the size etc:

only problem is the wiring, like the fuel guage for example as the xtx has a warning lamp rather than a guage. there should be no problem with the tacho/indicators/speedo/etc though. what do you guys think?
PS: the dash shown was removed from the DR800 when I killed it by shorting something out. before then It was great! very solid, didnt leak in the rain and everything worked well.

another thing I just thought about is the R1 used the same fuel pump as the xtx. maybe the R1 has an actual fuel guage and the 'floating arm etc' from the R1 fuel pump assembly could be added to fit the XTX assembly. just an after thought here! this is the ebay dash:

theres a part missing on the xtx pump assembly that is on the fz6 like this: this partb coupled with the aftermarket dash would give a properfuel guage. some tweaking and bending may be required for the float but im sure its possible.

I've used These clocks on my Honda z50j but it doesn't have a fuel gauge. Wiring instructions were a bit vague.
