R wheel replacements

Hey guys how's it going. I've had my '13 XT for about 6 months now and figure it's time to start looking at swapping out a few parts.

I only ride on tarmac so i'll be looking for road tyres but my question is, would I be better off grabbing a set of X model wheels to replace the R's, or is there a better aftermarket solution for making an R better suited to the road?

Cheers.
