which headlamp protector. ?

Hi, before I press the dreaded buy now button...is there a difference between the OTR headlamp protector and the Touratech one...seem to remember someone saying one was a better fit. Got whipped by a branch today, no harm done but I realised some headlight protection would be worthwhile...I'm talking about the mesh one by the way! Steve

Personally, I prefer the Holan mesh protector. It's the cheapest too.

http://holan.pl/gb/xt660z-tenere/431-headlight-protector-steel-yamaha-xt660-tenere.html#.VQR2t46sWSo

It looks very similar to the OTR version, but I think the fixing points look neater and a little less clunky.

The TT one, besides being expensive, only fixes at two points and relies on resting on the headlight lens via a rubber bung - If the guard gets hit force will be directed to the headlight lens.

TT's new quickly removable mesh guard looks horrible and is ridiculously expensive!

I use the Yamaha one. It's delivered with a special bracket to fit it. Very happy with it.

I like the look of the Yamaha one; saw one on a bike in a dealers and was impressed. Looks to be a good fit and not secured to the headlight by velcro stickers like some others. Should be easy to clean both the guard and headlight as there's a small gap between the two.

Hi Pleiades, thanks as ever for advice...have you bought from Holland ? Just went to buy the guard from them and thought I would check first as they don't do PayPal and need your card details. Thanks Steve

Yes I have. Bought my panniers and rack from them, amongst a number of other things.

Never had a problem. Safe, secure, decent products, excellent prices (especially given the falling euro) and their delivery is surprising quick from Poland.

Looking at the Holan website they used to be suppliers to Touratech up until 2008 til' deciding to go it alone.
I like the look of their metal rear carry rack, & can see they are ( the large & small ) the same shape as the TT's.
Holan is where I first saw the 3 LED lightbar I was seeking advice on.
Good to know they are safe to deal with.
