Unifilter and DNA airbox top
Hello all I'm new to this forum and I think it's an awesome resource. I'm not sure if this has been covered before but I'm after opinions on a particular filter and airbox lid combination I have acquired.
I purchased a 2013 Xt 660z and it came with a DNA filter and stage 2lid combo. The previous owner used the bike on road only . Here in Australia yamaha supply a oiled foam uni filter as standard equipment instead of a paper element probably because of perceived dustier conditions here in oz. I have reverted back to the uni filter as I use the bike off road and in dusty conditions. So my question is what does everyone think of using the DNA lid on the airbox with the uni filter . Will it run lean ? Are the restriction of foam elements be less airflow than a DNA element. Will I need a kev fuel mod. Or am I going to get something in the middle between stock and a DNA stg1+2 Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers |

personally I'd get a kev mod as even with any filter change you can dial in the minor change in the fuelling to make the bike feel smoother

Hi, Here i'm using unifilter with dna top cover, it run's great i feel the bike runs the same way as with a k&n (similar to dna filter). In terms of air flow i think they are more less the same, but the foam filter is effectively much more efficient in dusty conditions, with it, i'm not worried about riding the bike in any conditions.
